Article #: 122

It is a legal requirement that all Activity Statements lodged to the ATO via a Registered Agent must have a signed declaration in writing from the Director of the Business. Signing the declaration states the following:

  • The Business has reviewed the information outlined in the document and the activity statement is true and correct;
  • The Agent is authorised to lodge the document on behalf of the Business;
    Note: More information on lodging activity statements via registered agents is available on the ATO Website

Electronic Signatures

An electronic signature, or e-signature, refers to data in electronic form. This type of signature provides the same legal standing as a handwritten signature as long as it adheres to the requirements of the Electronic Transaction Act 1999.
