Since the introduction of Single Touch Payroll, Employees can view their Year to Date summary of their Wages, Tax and Superannuation throughout the year, by accessing a summary of their Income Statements on their MyGov account.

At the end of the year, once their Employer finalises Payroll, Employees can access a finalised electronic version of their Income Statements (Payment Summaries/Group Certificates) directly online.

Employees can access their Income Statements:

  • by accessing their MyGov Account;
  • by contacting their Tax Advisor;
  • by contacting the Australian Taxation Office on 13 28 61.

An Employer is required to finalise Income Statements for their Employees by no later than the 14th of July each year. From the 1st July 2019 Employers are no longer required to provide printed copies of Payment Summaries to their Employees, as these are now available online.

Income Statement Statuses

Depending on the time of the year, Income Statements may display as:

Income Statements are on the status of 'Year to date' during the Financial Year.

Income Statements then change to the status of 'Not Tax Ready' on the 1st of July until the Employer finalises the Payroll Year.

Income Statements change to 'Tax Ready' once the Employer has submitted a 'Finalisation Declaration' to the ATO. Once the Income Statements are ready, Employees can lodge their Tax Returns.
