Typically a period is locked after key financial obligations are lodged to the ATO. Locking a period means not allowing users to create, edit or void transactions dated before the locked date. Lock Dates can only be accessed by users on a Status of Advisor.

Xero has two types of Lock Dates:

  1. Partial Lock > locks transactions for all users except for users on Advisor Status;
    Used
    after preparing and lodging Activity Statements.
  2. Full Lock > locks transactions for all users;
    Used
    after preparing and lodging Tax Returns and Conversion Balances.
