The Building and Construction Industry Long Service Payments Act 1986 (the Act) requires employers to add any new eligible workers within 7 days of their employment start date. Employers must also keep their workers' information up to date in the portal and terminate workers who have left their employment during the Financial Year.

Eligible workers only include those workers who perform building and construction work on-site

Update Workers' Details or Terminate Workers

Employers are required to maintain workers' information up to date in the Long Service Leave portal. This means that during the Financial Year, before the next Employer Annual Declaration is due, employers are required to update workers' details, including their new address and contact details, and even change of work type (when applicable).

Finally, all workers who leave their employment must be terminated in the Long Service Leave portal during the Financial Year.

  1. From the [Workers] Tab, click on the worker you wish to terminate

    è The Workers screen opens

  2. Click on [Edit]
  3. Amend the worker's details, or to terminate the worker, enter the Termination Date in the relevant field
Note: you must submit any outstanding Employer Annual Declaration before you can terminate a worker. You can also terminate a worker as part of the Employer Annual Declaration.
  4. Once you have amended the details or entered the worker's termination date, click on [Submit]

è A Confirmation Message is displayed

  5. Click on [Close]
